Liz Henry graduated from the University of Vermont in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. She pursued graduate studies in biomechanics at New York University and earned a Doctor of Science (DSc) in advanced orthopedic physical therapy practice from Andrews University.
Liz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT), holds Board Certification in Orthopaedics (OCS) from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and is a Certified Cervical & Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT) through the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial & Cervical Therapeutics (PTBCCTT). Additionally, she is certified in Dry Needling by KinetiCore.
Early in her career, Liz developed a specialization in TMD dysfunction and craniofacial injuries while working with stunt professionals in Los Angeles in the 1980s. In 1985, she moved to New York City, where she worked with professional dancers, ice skaters, and gymnasts. Many of her patients experienced cranio-vertebral and cranio-mandibular dysfunctions caused by collisions or the physical strain of wearing heavy, elaborate headpieces for productions such as The Lion King.
Liz’s passion for education began in 1989 when she started lecturing in courses focused on Dance Medicine, ultimately co-developing and co-teaching The Dance Medicine Practicum through West Side Dance Physical Therapy. From 2015 to 2025, Liz served as a faculty instructor, fellowship instructor, and examiner with the North American Institute of Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Therapy (NAIOMT). She taught cervical spine and orofacial-craniocervical manual therapy and MSK management for NAIOMT’s fellowship-level programs. In 2025, Liz founded LifeForce Education, dedicated to providing comprehensive orofacial-craniocervical management education for physical therapists. She is also the owner of LifeForce Physical Therapy and Wellness in Wilmington, NC, where she has focused exclusively on this specialty since 2016.
Liz continues to integrate her original specialty in Dance Medicine and currently serves as Senior Physical Therapist for the Carolina Ballet.
